Meet Grace

In my Easter basket this year, I got Dove chocolates filled with caramel, cashew nuts, Sweet Tarts and "Grace":

I don't know if you can see it from the picture, but Grace came complete with an ACE bandage around her left foot (looks suspiciously like my left foot did until yesterday when the orthopedic guy gave me an air cast thingy) and a band-aid on her right knee (exactly like the one I'm sporting from a recent mishap involving crutches and some concrete steps). Good to know I'm not the only klutz in the family.

And to kcsis: Thank you Easter Bunny! Bwak! Bwak!

Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!!

Wednesday morning I was heading to work as usual; had my hands full with my tote bag, my purse and trash for the dumpster. I locked my door, dropped my keys in my coat pocket and started down the stairs. The first flight was business as usual...the second, not so much. Two steps down and my boot heel got caught in my pants cuff and down I went. Besides landing pretty hard on my left shoulder and hip, I also managed to do some serious damage to my left ankle and foot. I called 911 and rode to the hospital with some very cute and very nice paramedics (I'm not just saying that because they gave me morphine either). Once at the ER several doctors and nurses stopped by to look at my Amazing Swelling Ankle - it Swells! it turns Blue!! The entire staff told me what a good job I had done. What do you all think?

After sitting there for 4 hours and watching my foot get bigger and more blue, they decided that they couldn't tell if it was broken or not because the tissue was too swollen to see through on the x-rays. Great. They sent me home with a half-cast, crutches, 20 Percocet and instructions to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon on Monday. Yippee Skippy.
