Countdown to K-Day
The last few weeks have been divided into two categories: Before Transplant and After Transplant.
Until mid-March we didn't even have a date yet, but then I got the phone call...Wednesday April 16th. That's when I started thinking in terms of BT and AT. There are so many things I have to get in order Before Transplant. Who's taking care of the cats? Travel arrangements to Wichita. Where am I recovering? If I go back to Denver, do we fly or does kcmere drive us back? If we go to Kansas City, again, do we fly or drive? Paperwork for Short-term Disability. Training a temp at work. Book a return flight for Mere. Make arrangements for some bill payments to be deferred for a month. Call for a medical hold to be put on my gym membership. Get a list of phone numbers together for kcmere and kcsis to call with updates. It seems that the list went on and on.
I'm sure there will be things I will add before I leave on Wednesday morning for Wichita and all of the pre-op stuff before surgery the following week, but as of this morning I've checked off everything I had on the BT list.
It's amazing how many people have told me in recent days that Bryan and I have been added to their prayers. It's truly humbling to have so many people wishing you well. I can honestly say that I am not concerned for myself, I am healthy and my recovery should be uneventful. My concern is for Bryan. I want so badly for him to get healthy and get back to his life which has been on hold for so long. I've been thinking of things in Before Transplant and After Transplant terms for just a few months, Bryan's been doing it for close to two years. I'm not the most religious person on the planet, but I would appreciate any good thoughts you guys might send our way (especially Bryan's) over the next few weeks. After April 16th, neither of us will have to think Before Transplant again.
Y'all take care and I'll be back on-line around the 20th or so.
Much love,
kcterrilynn
(kcsis will be guest blogging from Wichita with updates and perhaps, if you're lucky, a pic or two of a doped up Bryan and me showing off our matching incisions.)

Tim: our matching incisions from the transplant...but the main one will be about an inch above the bikini line, so maybe not that one. (Sorry, Carl)
